2. This Website Does Not Use Cookies

This website does not use cookies, no analytics or tracking tools (e.g. Google Analytics), and no social media plug-ins. Visitors are not recognised across multiple page views. A cookie consent banner is therefore not required.

3. Fonts and Technical Resources

All fonts, icons and scripts are served exclusively from our own server. No content is loaded from Google Fonts or other external third-party servers. When you visit this website, no data (e.g. your IP address) is transmitted to Google or other third parties for this purpose.

4. Server Log Files

Our hosting provider automatically collects technical access data when the website is accessed (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, page requested, browser type), as is technically necessary for any web server. This data is used exclusively to ensure trouble-free operation and to secure our systems, and is deleted after 7 days at the latest, unless a legal retention obligation applies. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure provision of the website).

5. Automatic Language Redirect

When you open our homepage, our server uses your IP address to determine which country you are likely visiting from, in order to automatically show you the appropriate language version (German, English, or Czech). Your IP address is compared locally, on our own server only, against a publicly available country database we host ourselves (provider: DB-IP, db-ip.com). Your IP address is never transmitted to DB-IP or any other third party, never stored, and never logged — the check happens once per page load, entirely in our server's memory. No cookie is set; the language check is repeated each time you visit the homepage. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing you with a user-friendly, appropriately localised website). Known search engine crawlers are excluded from this redirect so that the German homepage continues to be indexed reliably.

6. Contact and Reservation Form

If you use our reservation or contact form, the data you enter (e.g. name, email address, phone number, date, time, number of people, message) is transmitted by email to Berghaus Sonnenfels in order to process your enquiry. There is no storage in a database on our website and no disclosure to third parties. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (fulfilment of a request/pre-contractual measure) as well as your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. The email containing your enquiry is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for processing.

7. Links to External Sites

In various places we link to external third-party sites, e.g. Google Maps (route planning), our live webcam (foto-webcam.eu), hiking routes (FATMAP, Komoot), and partner or cooperation websites. This content is not embedded, only linked — only once you actively click such a link does the respective site open in a new tab, and its own privacy policy then applies. Simply visiting our page does not transmit any data to these providers.

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to the processing of your personal data. Please contact us at the address given above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

9. Review Platforms

We appreciate reviews on platforms such as Google or TripAdvisor. These reviews are managed by the respective platforms themselves; we have no influence over their data processing. The privacy policies of the respective providers apply.
